Robert L. Sagrillo is a founding member of the firm who works closely with you and your family, public and private benefits providers, employers, business partners, professional services providers, fiduciaries and charitable organizations to make sure that your Estate Plan meets your unique personal and financial objectives.

Robert helps individuals who have legal questions in the areas of trust and estate planning, gifting, conservatorships and guardianships, health care advance directives, living wills, litigation and general practice, Medicaid, Medicare, personal injury settlement planning, medical and financial powers of attorney, probate, Social Security Disability, taxes, trusts, wills and workers’ compensation settlement planning.

He also helps businesses and insurance companies devise win/win strategies that maximize benefits for claimants while minimizing the overall cost to and liability of insurance companies and employers. As a settlement planning consultant, Robert brings to the table his expertise in public benefits, trust and estate planning, and tax. He was one of the first Medicare set-aside advisors in the country and continues to consult nationally with the largest self-insured employers and workers’ compensation insurance carriers.

In addition, he has given presentations on these and other subjects before local, regional and national organizations – legal and professional.

Robert has been designated a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation.* He is a member of the Denver Estate Planning Council, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is a member of the trust and estates section and the tax section of the Colorado Bar Association, and the business section, real property and probate section and tax law section of the American Bar Association.

In Denver, he volunteers his time to help people with legal problems through the Colorado AIDS Project and Craig Hospital; he is on the District Accountability Committee of the Boulder Valley School District.

Robert holds a law degree from the University of Denver College of Law and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Denver College of Law and Daniels College of Business. He has had over 100 hours training in facilitative mediation. He also holds a certificate in International law in trade and business from the University of San Diego. His undergraduate degree is in economics, from the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Most recently, Robert successfully argued the case of Stell v. Boulder County Department of Social Services and Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (No. 03SC511) before the Colorado Supreme Court.

Robert is admitted to practice law in Colorado, Washington, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. District Court – District of Colorado and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.
